Wigan Up, Donny Down, and the Blades?

Wigan had already secured their place in next season's Championship but capped off a fine week by thrashing Lancashire rivals Blackpool by four goals to nil in the lunchtime kick-off at Bloomfield Road, winning promotion at the first attempt and adding further pressure on the Tangerines as they battle against the drop.

There is just one relegation spot to be confirmed after Doncaster Rovers saw the nail in the coffin firmly sealed following a 3-1 defeat at already relegated Crewe Alexandra. The kick-off had been delayed by 30 minutes, owing to water on one side of the pitch, but this didn't look to dent Rovers chances as they netted first only to see the hosts score three goals of their own, the last came in the final minute.

Colchester United too are worth a mention. They too will play League Two football next season, but took the time to add another chapter into Barnsley's 2015/16 season. Having used all of their substitutes, the U's found themselves down to ten men via an injury, and at 2-1 down looked dead and buried. But the extra 8 minutes of 'injury-time' paid dividends and netted a last ditch leveller, meaning that the Tykes will require points at Wigan next weekend to secure a play-off spot.

Lastly, Sheffield United saw their fate truly sealed. Results elsewhere worked in favour but was unable to beat Coventry City, falling behind by two goals inside the first ten minutes, and eventually lost the game 3-1 despite Billy Sharp netting a reprieve. It leaves United playing League One football again next season.
