Deifying the Odds?

It isn’t going to be an easy task and whilst there is that opportunity to crawl out of the relegation trenches then the Bramall Lane club must keep their eyes firmly focused on that goal.

The team to catch now is Doncaster Rovers, who with two games remaining are six points better off than United and more importantly nine goals better off which the Blades must turn around to their advantage should they stay up.

Sheffield United will be involved in a fiery encounter with Barnsley at the Lane this weekend whilst Doncaster hosts a Leicester City side eager to make the play-offs (though unlikely). In a nut shell a 3-0 win for the Blades and a similar score at the Keepmoat to the Foxes would reduce the goal difference to minus 3.

On the final day of the season both sides have been pitted away; United are in Wales where they face Swansea who may this time next week could be chasing an automatic spot but are already guaranteed a play-off place regardless. Meanwhile Rovers travel to Middlesbrough who themselves have been on form recently.

Of course that’s easier said than done but Rovers know they only need a point from their next two games to stop up, though could do anyway if United fail to win their remaining fixtures; we have a slim chance so let’s go for it. Up the Blades!
