JIM MAGILTONany names have been thrown into the managerial hat –amongst those are; John Pemberton (SUFC Academy), Roberto Di Matteo (ex-WBA), Danny Wilson (ex-Wednesday & Barnsley), Russell Slade (ex-Yeovil & Blades caretaker), Mark Robins (ex-Barnsley), Chris Wilder (Oxford United) and Aidy Boothroyd (ex-Watford).

The Sheffield Star understands that some personnel was brought to a ‘secret location’ for interviews and our sources informs us that Mark Robins, previously with Barnsley has been contacted by United to take an interview.

Though it is understood that former Watford, Coventry City and Colchester United boss Aidy Boothroyd was present and I am sure that I speak for the majority of fans that his style of football wouldn’t be well taken by the Blades faithful.

Whilst his name hasn’t been mentioned publically, book makers have been taking odds (12/1) for former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Jim Magilton.

He was installed as Ipswich manager in June 2009 having already served the club as a player; whilst at Portman Road he slowly built a recognisable and fearful team in the Championship but was unfortunate that his efforts weren’t rewarded with promotion – it was typical that it would be form away from home which let him down.

Yet he brought fast flowing and attractive football to Suffolk and remained as manger until April 2009 when he left the club and soon found employment at Queens Park Rangers three months later; he won a total of 56 games and lost 51 (drawn 41) in 148 matches served with the club; a 60% win record.

His stay at Loftus Road however only lasted three months after an altercation with a player which led to the Northern Irishman’s dismissal after just 24 matches.

In other managerial news; Swindon Town have found their successor to Danny Wilson – former Wednesday and West Ham striker Paulo Di Canio; it is his first job as a manager!
