Let's show our mettle

United's record both home and away, particularly at home, has been very pleasing this season. The Blades currently boast the best home record in the division, winning 11 out of their 15 league games on their own patch to date.

Colchester, Rochdale, Hartlepool and most recently Wycombe have been hit for three when visiting Bramall Lane in the league this season, whilst Bury, Exeter and Yeovil have each succumbed to four goals in S2.

The four teams United have dropped points to at home are Exeter, Huddersfield, Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday. All are fellow promotion rivals, with the obvious exception of Exeter.

With Danny Wilson's men having a game in hand over Huddersfield, and two games in hand over the other lot from S6, this is an ideal opportunity to claw points back and create daylight between ourselves and third place.

Cheers were ringing around Bramall Lane on Saturday when the result from St James' Park was confirmed, with Blades fans realising the significance of gaining three points off Wycombe and nearest and fiercest rivals Sheffield Wednesday losing 2:1 down in Devon - hopefully the scene of a promotion party for the Blades come the 5th of May.

3759274United head into an important run of games against Huddersfield, Preston and Sheffield Wednesday, all regarded as part of the 'big boys' in this division.

Our remaining home games are all against teams below us in the division and, going on our sensational home record thus far, maximum points in almost all of them are not out of the question.

Trips to Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons still await, with games at the Galpharm and Hillsborough both on the horizon in the next two weeks.

Apart from the home success against MK Dons in October, United have yet to step up to the plate against the teams in the mix with them towards the top.

On Tuesday we come up against a player who just can't stop scoring in the shape of Jordan Rhodes, but we have our very own talisman in Ched Evans with 19 goals to date.

Five points out of the next three games wouldn't be disastrous at all, but can we prove that we have the capabilities to beat those vying for an automatic promotion spot alongside us?

Most definitely we can. We were very unlucky at Charlton Athletic three weeks ago and deserved a point at the very least.

With the games hand we have we can really kick on if we get through these next three fixtures with a healthy points return.
