Not long now until the Wilson era begins!

Competitive football is almost back! Pre-season games do become a little drab at times, but there's now points up for grabs beginning at Boundary Park on Saturday when Danny Wilson takes charge of his first league game as Sheffield United manager.

Blades fans have nailed their colours to the mast by snapping up over 2,800 tickets for Saturday's opener at Oldham, which makes it evident that the Bramall Lane faithful are willing to back their club to the full this season.

The horror show of last season has now got to be put behind us, and the Danny Wilson era has to supported at its upmost.

If Wilson was to take the Blades immediately back up, it would no doubt go down as one of the greatest managerial achievements at Sheffield United, considering the circumstances staining his arrival at the club.

Wilson knows this league like the back of his hand. Granted, he doesn't have the best of records in the third tier, but it's no good in lamenting his appointment anymore, and most Blades fans understand this. He and his players need as much support possible in these crucial times.

What I've heard from Wilson sounds refreshing and encouraging. He has talked the talked the talk but can he walk the walk? That is the million dollar question.
