However; those who witnessed the goal would have been surprised to learn that it was the first professional goal of his career.

He had already featured for the Blades in the summer after playing on trial in a 1-0 win at Nott's County; then manager Kevin Blackwell opted not to sign the defender.

Newly promoted Blackpool took Calvé on trial and he featured at Aston Gate in their pre-season friendly with Bristol City - the Robins won 2-0.

It was understood that Seasiders manager Ian Holloway attempted to sign the Frenchman but couldn't agree terms and he returned to Nancy.

However following the departure of Kevin Blackwell, new Sheffield United boss Gary Speed swiftly moved in to sign the full-back on loan until the end of the season.

He made his debut at home to Preston North End were he scored the winner; a thunder bolt from 35 yards out!

On 7 April 2011 it was announced that the French defender was to return to his native France after his loan deal was terminated by mutual consent. He left the club having made 16 (+2) appearances, scoring one – his last appearance coming at Burnley (lost 4-2) on New Years Day.
