Lowton is currently one of the Blades hottest prospects and has been at Bramall Lane since the age of nine having previously seen a spell at Leeds United.

He signed professional terms in 2007 and has made good use of the clubs' youth and reserve team; building his way through with great effect and next season could be considered as a regular starter under Kevin Blackwell.

He spent some time in Hungary last season - gaining experience with Ferencvaros where he played eighteen times under then manager Bobby Davison. He made his debut in a 0-0 cup fixture at Kacskemet.

Upon his return to S2 he was listed as a unused substitute on a number of occasions and on 24th March 2010 was handed his debut when he replaced full-back Andy Taylor in the final minute at Cardiff City.

Lowton can play a varied of positions; mainly a centre-half but can also play as full-back and defensive midfielder if needed.

On the final day of the season he played the whole 90 minutes in a 3-0 win at Ipswich Town.
