Sheffield United completed the permanent signing of keeper Lawrence Thomas in March 2011; signing a contract until the remainder of the season.
He was signed on a free transfer from Bankstown City who competes in the New South Wales Premier League.
Youngster Thomas has played for a few youth sides in his homeland but was handed an opportunity to impress on the European stage when in the summer of 2010 he joined Coventry City on trial.
Under Aidy Boothroyd he joined the Sky Blues on their tour of Austria, replacing Kieran Westwood at half-time in a game against Gaflenz and against Northampton Town at Sixfields. He also featured in their Under-18 fixtures and was part of the squad which beat Wolverhampton Wanders U-18’s 3-0.
In March 2011; prior to his move to Bramall Lane he was an unused substitute as they shared the Doug Turnbull Cup – drawing 2-2 with Central Coast Mariners.
A former Australia U-18 youth international; he was introduced straight into the first team, starting on the substitute’s bench in the Blades trip to Watford on 12 March 2011.
