2007-2008 review - December

Last updated : 02 June 2008 By Jamie Furniss
The Blades travelled down to Coventry to begin December and they ran out 1:0 winners. A dull 1st half was followed by a Chris Armstrong header midway through the 2nd half which he saw rattle the back of the net. The Blades were awarded with a 3rd league away win of the campaign.

That win was followed by a 3:0 defeat to Stoke City. The Blades were bossed all over every inch of the pitch as City ran out worth winners on a chilly Tuesday night. James Beattie scored his first only goal of the season.

Another loss was on the cards this time at Carrow Road. Ched Evans scored in the first 10 minutes of the game. That looked to be ruled out by a Matt Kilgallon header on the 90 minute mark but the linesman ruled him out for offside. Replays did show that Kilgallon was onside. There were protests from the Blades players and coaching staff which did lead to a £20,000 fine from the FA.

The only goal of the game against South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley was from defender Matt Kilgallon. This one was given just unlike the other goal he scored against the Canaries a week back.

The return of Rob Hulse midway through the 2nd half didn't spark any life into the team against Cardiff in the Welsh capital. Paul Parry scored the winning goal for the Bluebirds as the scorelined ended up 1:0.

The Blades got another dissapointing draw against a lower club side. A second draw of the season with Blackpool on Boxing Day was seen by 26,409 supporters. James Beattie missed from the penalty spot but reedemed himself by bagging a goal pass Rachubka, but he had to leave the field when he picked up an injury. Jorgensen got the only goal for the Seasiders.

Former manager Neil Warnock returned to the Lane on a emotional day for him personally. But he was in joy after 90 minutes when his Palace side won the game 1:0. Chants of 'Robson Out' was ringing around Bramall Lane.
