2007-2008 review - October

A chilly October night at the Lane kicked off the month of a disastrous October. First blood was drawn to United as James Beattie put the Blades 1:0 up against the Bluebirds. Joe Ledley equalised for the Welsh capital as the evening started to get even worser for United.

Robbie Fowler stepped up to the spot and slotted it past Paddy Kenny just like he did on the opening day of the season against Liverpool last year. A stunner from Chris Armstrong and a header by Chris Morgan salvaged the Blades a point in the dying minutes of the game.

A live televised game at Ashton Gate against Bristol City ended the Blades looking embarrassed. Goals from Noble and McIndoe ensured the Robins won the evening kick-off and sent all Blades fans back up north very dissapointed.

Preston North End came over the Pennines, while Darren Carter put PNE in front on a Saturday afternoon at the Lane. James Beattie rescued a point late on into the game from the penalty spot.

Danny Webber made all Blades fans travel back up the M1 delighted after his close range goal against Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium on a Tuesday night.

A trip to the KC Stadium ended up even stevens. Jon Stead put United in front in the 1st half but old boy Dean Windass put Hull City one apiece with the Blades.

The 4th round of the Carling Cup rounded off a terrible October. A young and very experienced Arsenal side knocked the Blades out of the League Cup after smashing three goals past Bennett in goal.
