A Poem for the Blades...

Last updated : 01 December 2006 By HonestBlade1889

Blades-Mad would like to thank HonestBlade1889 for writing this poem and posting it on Blades-Mad. The poem incidentally was written on 25 November 2006.

A screamer from Unsworth and a win against Hull.
Life with the Blades is never boring or dull.
Then down to Cardiff, memories of the past,
1-0 from Webber and promotion at last.

Nightmares forgotten, the play-offs no more
The Premier League beckons, our heads will be sore
From celebrations and parties, big slaps on the back
We're back in the top flight, Warnock for the sack?

A face lift's in order for the beautiful Lane
A new corner stand, more seats we will gain
For our return to the big time, the promised land
Our boys doing battle, Beany in the stand.

So 12 years of heartache have gone in a flash
With the crowd right behind us we'll give it a bash.
A new generation of Blade will once again see
The likes of Man United, Arsenal and of course Chelsea.

A 5 year old daughter, her 1st ever game
Will remember for ever the day Liverpool came
The raw edge of excitement, fast beating pulse
A great cross from Tongey and header from Hulse.

The misguided official a penalty gave
And a goal for the scousers, Paddy just could not save.
Now I'm sure we agree things are going to get rough
There'll be doubts, recriminations when it really gets tough.

But always remember that you are a Blade,
With a soul made of steel in Sheffield we're made.
Don't lose your faith and keep hope in your heart,
We are UNITED together., never apart.
