Promotion is the obvious aim every season when United are stuck in the second tier, but Lupoli knows that the club has great expectations and knows what the crack is.

He said: "I knew two or three weeks ago that there was interest from Sheffield United. I signed a year's loan at Norwich but I had to terminate it.

"Fiorentina took me back for a few hours before I could agree the contract here. There was a little delay but we got it sorted in the end. The aim in the next four months is to do well here and it is massive for me because I come from a big club.

"I have three and half years left with Fiorentina so I have aspirations to play either in the Premier League or Serie A.

"I got promoted with Derby County from this division so I know what it is about. This is a great opportunity for me and hopefully I can help this club achieve what they want - which is promotion.

"I'm a striker who can play on the left-wing. My qualities are speed and I try to read the game, playing off the shoulder of the defender. There is a lot of focus on the Championship in Italy and Sheffield United is a club that is well-known."

Despite being present at Southampton, Lupoli didn't feature in the 2:1 victory but he will be available for selection for Saturday's high noon Steel City Derby with Sheffield Wednesday.
