The Italian recorded a sweet goal three minutes from time to seal United's lead in the 2:1 success over Barnsley. He made it two goals in two local derby appearances - he of course netted the Blades only goal against Sheffield Wednesday at Bramall Lane.

Afterwards, he said: "It was great to come on and give a good contribution to the team. I came on when it was goalless and we went in front one nil which I enjoyed and after the goal the team got a lift and we started to play better.

"I scored my goal which was a good finish. Greg did a great cross to me and it was a relief to score at such a vital time in the game. I did the right movement and it was good to see it go in.

"The timing of the goal makes the result all that more sweeter and I thought we did really well to collect the 3 points.

"I felt I made some good runs and we put pressure on their defence. We knew they were good in the air but struggled with their pace so we got in behind and capitalised. The Gaffer said to me try and put as much pressure as possible on the centre-halves and that's what I tried to do.

"There are five games left, plus the possibility of the play-offs so everybody has to be at their best at this stage of the season so its understandable to why I'm not in the team.

"When you get thrown on as a substitute you have to do your best and I thought I did just that. It worked out well and that's full praise to the team, management and supporters."
