Blackie on fixtures

The Blades will travel to play Brum on the 9th August when the 2008/2009 campaign kicks off. Blackwell will meet Alex McLeish in a tough encounter with the Blues which is followed by Ian Dowie's QPR.

He said:"You only have to look at the first five fixtures to see what an exciting Championship this is - they include Birmingham and Derby who have just come down, QPR who could be favourites, and Cardiff who were Cup finalists a few weeks ago.

"Two of those fixtures would have been Premiership games last year, and QPR have the potential to be the division's biggest spenders."

Blackwell has said that the Blades will be on everyone's list on difficult opponents and says his team has a massive chance of reaching the promise land.

He said:"We are Sheffield United and we are confident on two fronts; We can beat anyone at Bramall Lane, and the way we ended last term convinces us that our squad will take some beating. That is why i emphasise that our supporters should set their stall out to come to every game and make the Lane a really difficult place for teams to visit."

The final game of the season sees the Blades take on former manager Neil Warnock with his Crystal Palace side at Selhurst Park. Could it be him what stopped his beloved Blades getting promotion or could it be him seeing his beloved Blades gaining promotion.

On that final game Blackwell said:"If we are not already up then, let's hope there is everything to play for - that would be some finale!"
