1253306470_spt_ai_sheffutd_sheffwed_23Gary McSheffrey and former Blade Michael Tonge are both surrounded with speculation about possible moves to S2. In his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's tie with Scunthorpe United, the gaffer has confirmed interest in the Birmingham winger/striker and the out-of-favour Stoke City man.

He said: "Tonge and McSheffrey are two names I have considered and I won't dismiss them as possibilities, but I already have six loanees available and I can only play five.

"As virtually all of them are fit out of twelve players who are training they would have to play anyway - or I would have to shuffle things round again. If I can get some of the strikers fit soon I might then look at a midfield loan.

"I am looking at our medical team to get as many of the lads as fit as possible for Saturday. But these things happen, we will have to get on with it and I am totally confident that we will be competitive."

Sheffield United have only 13 fully fit players as we speak, which is disappointing but unlucky. Blackie finished: "We're down to 13 players at the moment and if that's still the case we'll definitely go into the loan market."
