1253301416_spt_ai_sheffutd_sheffwed_06Blackie has confirmed that he made a trip to a League One game at the weekend to scout a goalkeeper who is on loan from a Premier League club at a third-tiered side. The manager, a former 'keeper himself, refused to announce the shot-stopper he was examining, but Blades Mad believe that Carl Ikeme, on loan from Wolves at Charlton, is the goalkeeper Kevin Blackwell is keen on bringing to Bramall Lane.

Blackwell said: "We have to get some back-up but it'll not be a lower-league goalkeeper.

"We are after a Premier League 'keeper who is out on loan at another club at the moment, and so we are going to have to have look to see if we can do it."

Paddy Kenny is still under a drugs ban from the Football Association, Mark Bunn, United's only available man between the sticks, was recently dropped by the gaffer due to recent lapses, and Ian Bennett deputised but is now on the sidelines.
