Gary SpeedA successor will have to be appointed at The Liberty Stadium shortly when Roberto Martinez departs for Premiership side Wigan Athleitc. Welshman Gary Speed is the top candidate for the Swans who finished in a creditable 8th position last season.

Speed, 39-years-of-age has only just broke on to the scene managerial wise, after assisting Kevin Blackwell on the sidelines. A cruel injury in the first half of the campaign ended Speed's season prematurely.

The former Bolton man has a year remaining on his contract, but that could soon be torn up and a new one be penned at Swansea as the man at the helm. Swans chairman Huw Jenkins said:

"I would love to get things (the vacant managerial spot) sorted as quickly as I can."
