The sum has been raised through the annual Sheffield Fans Derby which takes place between supporters of both Sheffield United and Wednesday with Sheffield Hospitals Charity Sheffield Helipad Appeal benefitting from the monies raised. This brings the total raised so far to £32,092.15 since 2008 from 12 games of football in aid of 12 different charities.

The Sheffield United Fans ran out six - four winners in this Sheffield Fans Derby event (#SFD12) which was held on Sunday 19th April 2015 at Penistone Church FC.

Sheffield Fans Derby is a full 11 a side game played, sanctioned and officiated under FA rules, managed completely by volunteers. A different charity is chosen for each game and funds are raised by the players receiving sponsorship for taking part, corporate sponsorship of the programme, match ball etc and ticket and programme sales on the day of the event.

From very humble beginnings raising a few hundred pounds for Sports Relief 2008 it has developed into an organised event using semi and professional football grounds.
