Yeates has made 21 appearances for Middlesbrough this season, but will move on just six months after joining them from Colchester for an undisclosed fee in the summer.

He actually opted for a move to the Riverside rather than Bramall Lane, but the arrival of Gordon Strachan has seen his chances of match action limited. After Saturday's victory over Boro, Blades manager Kevin Blackwell confirmed:

"The game against Middlesbrough was a classic example of wide players heavily involved in winning games.

"These days wingers have to be athletes who can get up and down the pitch and I think Mark can bring something different to what we already have at the club."
