The former England winger beat a whole host of applicants to get the job at Bramall Lane, a job which was previously filled by Dean Riddle before he joined rivals Leeds United.

"We had some excellent applications for the post," Warnock told www.sufc.co.uk. "But Tony came with a good recommendation from Graham Taylor for his work at Villa.
"Tony has so much enthusiasm and a good background and I just wanted to give someone an opportunity.
"His experience of the game and his fitness know-how will benefit the whole squad."
