He said: "I would love to stay at Sheffield United, but it is up to both them and Fiorentina to sort things out. It would be a great option for me to stay in Sheffield because I want to establish myself at a club now, after three different loan spells in the last two years.

"I got a call two days ago informing me that Sheffield United are in talks with Fiorentina about keeping me permanently, but whether it will go further depends on whether they can come to an agreement.

"It is always good to go out on loan and play regular football, especially in the Championship, which is a very high level of football. But there comes a time when you just want to settle down and establish yourself at one club and that is what I would like to do now."

Lupoli endured nine games for the red and white wizards, and played minimally, but admits if the Blades aren't his next club, he may have to pursue his career elsewhere, preferably in England. He finished: "Hopefully it will be at Sheffield United, but if not then somewhere else where I can get my career back to the top level again."
