Blades' injury crisis worsens

First, Jamie Ward is ruled out for five weeks, then, Nick Montomgery is out for eight weeks - United's unlucky turn for the worse on the injury front has become even more of a disaster...

He's jeered on his debut and then heavily clatters into a goalpost to net his side an equaliser against their neighbours. Richard Cresswell, the on loan Stoke man, has joined the influx of names in the Bramall Lane treatment room.

The versatile attacker suffered cracked ribs for his troubles in last Saturday's South Yorkshire Derby versus Doncaster Rovers - this has reportedly ruled the extremely unfortunate and brave 32-year-old out for a month!

This has left Kevin Blackwell, the Blades boss, not at all happy over yet another injury. He said: "It's another blow. It is another injury that has come out of nowhere but we just have to get on with it.

"I will speak to the doctor about the length of time we will be without him but Richard is a tough lad - he showed that by carrying on during Saturday's game. We will have to wait and see."
