It has emerged today that the Blades were set to sign Khizanishvili on loan until Newcastle United stepped in and signed the Georgian defender on a three month deal.
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell told sufc.co.uk; "We had an agreement with Zurab Khizanishvili, his agent and Blackburn Rovers to bring him in on loan and then at midnight we heard that he had signed for Newcastle."
