Brian Howard was on the score sheet on Good Friday as United recorded an historical win at the Madejski Stadium, whilst Preston North End saw there play-off hopes dented when they lost 1-0 at Deepdale to Blackpool in the Lancaster Derby.

Charlie Adam netted the only goal of the game, coming in the 43rd minute, he had collected the ball 22 yards from goal and was allowed time and space to drive the ball hard and low into the bottom corner.

North End came close to a leveller when Ross Wallace smashed his free-kick against the post from 25 yards out; the result isn't too much of a blow for the Lillywhitres, they can still make the play-offs despite falling to 8th place but United, currently 13 points ahead of Preston are now guaranteed a play-off spot at least with four matches remaining.
