He's been with the Blades throughout his career, and has experienced the highs and lows. Nick Montgomery, who is undoubtedly at his best, performance wise, is more than happy to remain at Bramall Lane for the foreseeable future.

The defensive midfielder has only scored 7 goals in just under 300 appearances, but striking the ball cleanly into the oppositon's net is certainly not a prowess of the 28-year-old's. Monty also admits that he loves Sheffield United.

He said: "I am in talks about my contract but these things take time and I am not wanting to rush things, as I am fully focused on playing in two important matches over the Christmas period.

"I will leave negotiations to other people but hopefully in the next couple of weeks there might be something sorted out.

"I have been with this club through thick and thin and can honestly say I love the Blades.

"When I started we used to get 11,000 at home games, now we regularly get in excess of 25,000 week after week, so Sheffield United is a massive club.

"I have achieved so much here but I remain hungry for more. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I believe that I have a really good relationship with the fans, although you can't always please everyone.

"We need to turn the Lane into a fortress; the fans certainly played their part in getting us out of the bad patch we went through recently and now we are only a couple more wins away from being right in the mix."

"I am happy to be a part of what is happening at Sheffield United and I am in no rush to leave it behind."
