Preston North End expect to line-up with Brian O'Neil and striker Richard Cresswell who recived knocks in there humiliating 5-1 defeat to Reading at Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night.

Ex-Sheffield Wednesday defender Marlon Broomes is fit again after recovering from a hamstring injury and will be hoping to start against the Blades. Meanwhile John Bailey will be looking to make his first team debut after impressing in there 2-1 victory against Burnley in the reserves.

Neil Warnock will defiantly have to change his squad as Mark Rankine will not be allowed to play as Preston (who he is on loan from) will not allow it. However Stuart McCall is likely to be fit and should start after he missed the Blades 1-0 moral boosting victory over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Goal hero Carl Asaba was given a start against Forest so that Steve Kabba could have a rest but as Asaba impressed it could be that Warnock keeps Asaba upfront for the visit to Lancashire.

Prediction: Preston North End 0-1 Sheffield United
