The fee is believed to be around the £10m-£15m mark. A formal hearing was penciled in for next week but both the Blades and the Hammers have agreed compensation away from the hearing. The clubs will release a statement shortly.

A BBC Sport colleague said: "The clubs have been trying to agree a level of compensation to avoid having to go to next week's formal hearing to sort it out in front of Lord Griffiths."

United have been fighting for compensation for the past year-and-a-half since they were unfairly relegated from the top flight.
