Diego Set For Lane Exit

Blades boss Nigel Clough has confirmed to BBC Sport that youngster Diego de Girolamo will leave Bramall Lane this sumer after failing to agree on a new contract. It has been officially reported in the past that a host of clubs including Arsenal, Sunderland and Juventus are interested in the Italian U20 international.

'His time here will come to an end when his contract ends. He's rejected his contract offer and the chance to stay here. We felt we had offered him a good deal but I think he feels he will get better opportunities elsewhere.' said Clough.

Due to his age and being under 24 the Blades will recieve compensation for the striker but I am sure I speak for all Blades fans in that we would like him to remain a Sheffield United player next season.
