Mansfield manager Keith Curle hasn't given up hope of Doane playing again fir the Stags in future.
Curle said: "I will be monitoring Ben with interest. He's a player that I like personally and professionally.
"Let's just say that hope of having him here isn't dead and buried. He has done a good job here."
