Doyle, 33 was signed by Micky Adams in January 2011 (from Coventry City) and despite being relegated from the Championship he has captained the Blades to semi-final appearances in both the FA and League Cup as well as a Play-Off Final in 2012.
He told BBC Radio Sheffield; "I'm gutted. I've enjoyed every minute," I would have liked to have found out earlier, so I could have said goodbye to the fans properly. They've always shown me great respect and I hope I've done the same for them. I hoped to stay here, but I think I always knew there was a danger I wouldn't be."
