United dominated plenty of the game but rued missed chances. But they did looked to have broke the deadlock midway through the 2nd period when Stephen Quinn's effort nestled into the bottom corner, but the linesman mysterically had his flag up for offside.

Ellis said: "I asked the referee why he whistled for an offence but he told me to go away which wasn't very civil. We are told not to argue with officials and we try not to but it is very hard not to sometimes because of their attitude.

"The lads are disappointed because that might have won the game and we felt that if any team was going to score it would be ourselves. We applied ourselves well against a team with an excellent home record and it was good to get back on track after Tuesday night - we passed the ball much better."

Chris Morgan had to depart the field in the 1st half due to picking up a niggle. Ellis updates us on the injury front: "He has a sore hamstring and I guess it will be Monday before we really know how bad it might be, but Leigh Bromby came on and his partnership with Matt Kilgallon looked particularly promising."
