Birmingham's dreams automatic promotion took a big blow when Preston North End snatched a well deserved three points at St Andrews. Paul Mckenna's stunning strike and Ross Wallace's delicious free-kick cancelled out Keith Fahey's opener.

Lee Williamson and Lee Bowyer were both surprisingly sent off when they were involved in a scrap. Goalscorer Ross Wallace was also dismissed after he received his second yellow card for taking his shirt off in delight towards the goal.

Preston thoroughly deserved the victory and it has done Sheffield United a MASSIVE favour. After the Blades' single goal win over Swansea, it sees them trail only one point behind Birmingham with just one battle left each.
