Fortune, a free signing from Charlton in September, has struggled for full fitness at Bramall Lane following a long-term Achilles injury, but has seized his chance following the departure of Matt Kilgallon and injuries to Marcel Seip and Andrew Taylor.

Fortune said: "To go from not playing to effectively three games in eight days is tough on the legs, but I will stretch off and see the physios to make sure everything ticks over ready for training.

"Playing football is all I want to do and the dressing-room is buzzing at the moment, although we know we weren't at our best (against Reading) it shows the signs of a good side when you can still win matches.

"West Brom have been up at the top all season, but we'll go there and look to put them under some pressure."
