Two strong penalty appeals were turned down by criticised referee Mike Dean which left the Blades infuriated, none more so than the 32-year-old. At the climax of the final, he abused the officials and was shown a straight red card whilst Burnley were opening the bottles of champagne.

Because of the incident, Hendrie has been given a £3,500 fine and a further one-game-ban added on to the original three-game-ban. The punishment will be valid at the beginning of next season for the first four games.
