Sheffield United Football Club
The club was born at 10 Norfolk Row in the heart of the city where a plaque was erected on its walls. That plaque reads:

'In this building on the evening of Friday 22nd March 1889, the committee of Sheffield United Cricket Club met with senior officials from the Sheffield Football association in the office of the club secretary Mr Joseph Wolstinholm and decided to form a new football club for the 1889/1890 season. The club would play on the Bramall Lane ground. The next day an advertisement in the Sheffield morning newspapers invited professional players to send their testimonials and particulars to Mr Wolstinholm by the 30th March 1889.

Sheffield United Football Club was born.'

Blades Chairman Kevin McCabe recently attended the place where United was created and commented: "It's great to be back at the site where our wonderful club was founded almost 120 years to the day. I wonder whether those who were at that very first meeting were aware of what they had ultimately created, the magnitude of their efforts and what the club would grow into?"

The club are celebrating the historical anniversary with a special 3rd kit for the 2009/2010 campaign. The shirt will have every single players' name that has donned on the red and white stripes woven onto the shirt.

Happy Birthday Blades!
