Hill, 33 was signed following a successful loan spell from Blackpool in 2012 and during his tenure has featured in two play-off campiagns (reaching the final in 2012) and appearing in the recent FA Cup semi-final against Hull City.
He Tweeted: "I am sad to say I am leaving Sheffield United. I have had a fantastic time with the lads, staff and fans."
