Adams has yet to win a game since taking charge of the Blades nine games ago and his task is not being made any easier by the latest withdrawals from his depleted squad.
Shane Lowry (dead leg) and Ched Evans (illness) pulled out before the 1-1 home draw with Reading, while midfielder Nick Montgomery has been ruled out long-term this week due to a knee injury.
Adams said: "Once again injuries and illness have messed our preparations up and that is the one thing about this place that is driving me mad.
"We can't prepare properly at all for anything. There's either an illness or an injury, so until we've got a settled unit, we've got no chance."
