We all believed that United players new and old could start afresh in the 2010/2011 campaign following last season's treatment table debacle but, already Kevin Blackwell has been dealt with another injury blow. Blackwell was forced to use a whopping 36 PLAYERS in the previous mediocre season.

After admitting he didn't take football seriously and actually made a massive mistake, Simon Walton was ecstatic this time last week after sealing a loan move to Sheffield United from Plymouth Argyle. Seven days later, the 22-year-old midfielder received heart-breaking news from United's medics when scans revealed his injury at Mansfield at the weekend is ankle ligament damage, and he is out for the season.

Walton secured a season-long loan at S2, and be time he recovers from his devastating injury, his loan spell at the Lane will have expired.

Kevin Blackwell said: "It is a tragedy for the lad because he was really going to give this chance his best shot but he won't play for us now because his loan will be up by the time he recovers.

"We are now talking to Plymouth about where Simon will do his rehab, and it means that we are a player down already so the search has to intensify."

The injury curse at Bramall Lane seems to have been prolonged. Please, God, prevent us from having another injury ravaged campaign. As for Simon Walton, all Unitedites sympathise with him with having such misfortune. Get well soon from all at Blades Mad.
