It's Snow Joke...

Last Saturday's encounter with Reading was called off two days early owing to the downfalls of snow which fell all over the South Yorkshire region - grinding Sheffield and neighbouring towns to follow suit and cancel local transport.

However the Bramall Lane club were accused of being 'disinterested' in this fixture, allowing key personnel to return from injury whilst no play was in action!

United have refuted these claims and insisting that the fans safety was there main priority in the option to cancel this Championship fixture; though Blades boss Gary Speed admits that Mark Yeates was ready to return to action and would have featured against the Royals.

Personally, I believe this fixture shouldn't have gone ahead - Doncaster Rovers were also keen to postpone their local derby with Barnsley for the same weather reasons.

Also Reading came to Bramall Lane some years ago; travelling miles to the Steel City only to finally the game called off an hour and an half before kick-off (due to a frozen pitch); a punishment which was seen by Blades fans at Leyton Orient two seasons ago.

In all, for the safety of local and travelling fans - this game correctly was called off.
