With Stuart McCall turning down the opportunity to manage his former playing club the Blades board must turn their attentions to a new successor. Caretaker manager Chris Morgan is still believed to be in the running but Kenny jacket, who resigned as Millwall boss a few weeks ago has become the front runner to take the Bramall Lane hot seat but is also being chased by manager less Wolves.

Jackett, 51 had a long established career with Watford as a player; playing over 300 times between 1980 and 1990 whilst also winning 31 caps for Wales. His CV is quite interesting; with Swansea City he won the Football League Trophy in 2006 and in the same year missed out on promotion – losing on penalties to Barnsley in the League One Play-Off Final.

With Millwall he was successful in the same final; beating Danny Wilson’s Swindon Town in the 2010 final at the new Wembley. Jackett had been unsuccessful a year previous when they lost 3-2 to Scunthorpe United.
