Hit-man Leroy Lita has signed for Championship rivals Middlesbrough. Shortly after, the reasoning behind his signature at The Riverside was revealed when attacker, Mido, joined Egyptian outfit El Zamalek.

Lita has now declined the Blades twice, last January and most recently last week. Kevin Blackwell shares his disappointment at the deal falling through. He commented:

"We were very close at times to signing Leroy Lita, it's true. There were negotiations and two or three times I thought it was going to happen, but then the goalposts would change and eventually we thought that enough is enough."

Blackie is remaining optimistic with his current options up top and knows that they can produce the goods. He continued: "But I have options in other targets and particularly amongst the lads we already have here. With the likes of Ched Evans, Jamie Ward and Darius Henderson we can look to the overall future with good hope, despite the fact that Jamie starts a suspension and the other two are not yet fully fit."
