Fjortoft for Barnsley in 1998-99 season.
Fjortoft signed for the Blades from Middlesborough in Feb '97 having previously being with Swindon Town, Rapid Vienna, Lillestrom and Hamar.

At the end of the 1996-97 season Fjotoft was part of the United squad that lost to Crystal Palace in the Play-Off Final. He was every effective the following season, and scored an hat-trick at home to Stockport in a 5-1 victory.

But, in January 1998 Barnsley came in for him and the lure of the Premiership became too much despite the Tykes being relegated months later. In all Fjortoft made 42 appearances for United and netted 23 goals.

The following season he came back to Bramall Lane to score in a 1-1 draw and in November 1998 left Oakwell to sign for German Budesleiga side Frankfurt before retiring three years later.

As well as Fjortoft, former Manchester City striker Uwe Rosler has been appointed as Head Coach with ex-Oldham Athletic and Leeds United defender Gunnar Halle as his Assistant.
