Last Sunday the Addicks lost 2-1 at Goodison Park. The Toffees battered the Athletic goal throughout the game but had to wait until 81st minute before defender Joleon Lescott headed them in front, Darren Bent levelled on 89 before James McFadden, deep into stoppage time produced the win.

Athletic manager Alan Pardew could field found Sheffield United striker Marcus Bent, he played just 56 games and scored 24 goals for the Blades between October 1999 and November 2000 before being sold to Blackburn Rovers.

The Valley club will be without three players who are all out injured; Andy Reid (hamstring), Herman Hreidarsson (knee) and Cory Gibbs (knee) are all missing for the Athletic.

Marcus Bent is also injured with a hamstring problem but could return to face his old club this Saturday.

Possible Addicks Line-Up: Scott Carson, Luke Young, Talal El Karkouri, Souleymane Diawara, Ben Thatcher, Darren Ambrose, Alexandre Song Billong, Amdy Faye, Bryan Hughes, Zheng-Zhi, Darren Bent.

Sheffield United travelled to Manchester United last Tuesday night and came back with a 2-0 defeat, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney netting the goals for the Reds.

The Blades made selection changes at Old Trafford knowing that any points picked up their was unlikely, and should make three changes that will play at the Valley on Saturday.

However they will be without striker Rob Hulse (broken leg) but could see the return of central-defender Claude Davis (leg) who was forced to retire the game against West Ham United last Saturday through injury.

Possible Blades Line-Up: Paddy Kenny, Derek Geary, Phil Jagielka, Chris Morgan, Chris Armstrong, Keith Gillespie, Michael Tonge, Nick Montgomery, Colin Kazim-Richards, Jonathan Stead, Luton Shelton.

Man in the Middle: Alan G. Wiley (Staffordshire)
