McCabe urges Blades fans

With some Blades supporters being unsure whether United can keep hold on to a play-off spot come May, Kevin McCabe has said that he believes that the Blades have already had their blip this season and other clubs await their bad run.

He said: "When I'm on my travels and I look at Sheffield United's attendances for games at Bramall Lane, they are very impressive and the way we have transformed it in the last 5 or 6 years have had a steady build up to real support.

"It generally shows what a foot balling city Sheffield is. It really shows that Sheffield United have an under current of supporters who have latched on what we have tried to do in making Sheffield United a great club.

"We were unjustly relegated from the Premiership. It's the fact of life and its only 2007 which was not long ago. But we have still got all the ingredients of a Premier League club because we are built up for that. We aim to be a top 10 Premiership club.

"The infrastructure is right for it and the supporters know generally what effort has been put in and they have seen the transformation and they are part of that transformation. That's why they turn out in numbers and all I can say to supporters, including myself, don't get too frustrated when its quite not going out way.

"My Christmas wish is to see that last third of last season happen again for the second half of this season. That little bit more that Kevin (Blackwell) got out of the same players that Bryan (Robson) had. The spirit, the drive, maybe that bit of luck that goes with it so that we do have a second half that we can get 10 or 12 more points than which we got in the first half of this season and see where that takes us.

"I've no doubts whatsoever that the other top clubs are going to have their hiccups and I firmly believe that we have already had ours. To all supporters, merry Christmas, have a good new year and let's see the Blades march up that table!"
