It has been well documented this week about how bad Sheffield United's injury crisis is beginning to get. When Unitedites thought it couldn't get worse, lo and behold our final fully fit striker goes down with flu!
The injury draught at S2 is continuing and is frustrating all concerned with the Red and White Wizards. The Blades anticipated only having one fit striker for tomorrow's (Saturday's) lunch-time kick-off at Scunthorpe, but now they have nil, zero, zilch front-men available or fully fit! How ridiculous.
It has been confirmed by Kevin Blackwell that Darius Henderson has possibly come down with flu - it could be swine flu. He said: "The doctor is seeing him and we are hoping he hasn't picked up swine flu.
"We have ten who are out or at least doubtful and it is quite the worst injury crisis I have encountered in my time as a manager.
"I am getting calls virtually every day because something else has happened and it is getting farcical. We don't get loads of injuries normally but I have had a good run at United so I suppose I am due a few.
Blades fans knew before the campaign begun that they have got a small squad, and that squad which was available at Middlesbrough over 2 months ago has now massively decreased. Below is Sheffield United's full squad list. Players unavailable or not fully fit are bold and underlined.
Our squad:
Ryan France Gary Naysmith Nick Montgomery Chris Morgan Matt Kilgallon Darius Henderson Ched Evans Kyel Reid David Cotterill Lee Williamson Ian Bennett James Harper Andy Taylor Richard Cresswell Jamie Ward Jordan Stewart Andrew Davies Mark Bunn Glen Little Keith Treacy Stephen Quinn Jonathan Fortune Kyle Walker
