The Blades currently have five loan recruits on their books but with the business end of the season already approached, Blackwell refuses to stay with what he's got and wants to add that bit more spice.

He said: "I want to get one or two more but it's proving difficult, we've been after good people and been very close. The two clubs that we have been tracking have picked up a few injuries, and one of them was playing in Europe last week.

"We are getting to the make and break part of the season and some clubs are loathe to allow players out when they might need them. It also seems that other clubs at our level are in the same boat.

"I've been going to games to watch players and I see the likes of Alex McLeish, Mick McCarthy, Dave Jones and Steve Coppell at the same places and we all know which players were are looking at.

"It's proving difficult but from day one I've wanted that quality midfielder. We had it with Gary Speed and we've missed him since his injury."
