Marden played for United during 1987-88 season which saw them relegated from Divison Two. During that season the Sheffield born Midfielder played 16 league games and scored once against Blackburn Rovers in a 3-1 home win.
He eventually went on to make appearances for Huddersfield Town, Coventry City (loan), Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nott's County, Stockport County, Birmingham City and Southampton.
