Kenny, 31-years-old was suspended by the club after he failed a drugs test today (Tuesday). Paddy tested positive for a banned substance called Ephedrine, after he bought cough medicine over the counter to treat an illness. Paddy could serve a lengthy ban if he deliberately took the banned drugs.

Ex Blades manager Neil Warnock, who recruited Paddy from Bury in 2002 said: "It's a big shock to me, and it is to anybody. He's a big softy and he isn't the brightest but I'm sure it's a genuine error.

"The FA are looking to ban players for drug taking like this, and for Paddy it doesn't sound very good at the moment. Paddy's a smashing lad, but not the brightest. In sport there are thousands and thousands of substances banned which makes it difficult for players, but we stress to players that you check with the Club Doctor before taking any medicines.

"He's throwing such a lot away at the moment, he's been in trouble a few times in his career now. But I can assure that Paddy would never cheat."
