The unfortunate relegation of the red and white wizards has been sparked by plenty of people in and around the sport. At least ten players from the 2006/2007 season are to approach lawyers to claim compensation for themselves.

"I've been contacted by various players with a view to looking at this claim but at this stage I can say no more," said lawyer Chris Farnell. Players such as Jon Stead, Alan Quinn, Chris Armstrong, Michael Tonge, Chris Morgan and many others are set to appeal.

Yesterday (Thursday) it was revealed that the Hammers are set to lose their own appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Bramall Lane Club originally launched a £30million compensation appeal to West Ham. The decision whether they are to pay up or not awaits.
