Last updated : 30 July 2011 By @blades_mad1889

The Blades, managed by Danny Wilson has already played many fixtures this summer with the friendly with the Seasiders this Sunday being their final preparations prior to the seasons start at Oldham Athletic in a week’s time.

United kick started the campaign with a score draw at Sheffield FC (1-1) whilst continuing away fixtures at Worksop Town (1-0) and a mini tour of Malta were they claimed two back to back wins over Sliema Wanderers (2-1) and Hibernians (3-1) before returning to Bramall Lane to face Doncaster Rovers (0-1) last Tuesday night.

During these friendlies the Blades have fielded several trialists with Kevin McDonald (ex-Burnley) Alex Kruk both featuring against Rovers and may be handed another opportunity to impress this Sunday.

The Blades however will be without defenders Chris Morgan and Johannes Ertl; both are sidelined through injury.

Possible Line-Up: Simonsen, Kozluk, Maguire, Lescinel, Lowton, Cresswell, Williamson, Montgomery Quinn, Slew, Bogdanovic.

Blackpool are likely to field a wealth of new signings at Bramall Lane this weekend; strikers Kevin Phillips (Birmingham City), Craig Sutherland, midfielders Angel Martinez (Espanyol), Bojan Djordjic (Videoton), Gerardo Bruna (Liverpool), Barry Ferguson (Birmingham City), defender Bob Harris (Quuens Park) have all signed for Ian Holloway’s side this summer and will look to impress in next seasons Championship campaign.

Exiting the Lancashire side this summer was Charlie Adam (Liverpool) in a £7,000,000 deal and David Vaughan (Sunderland) on a free transfer.

The Bloomfield Road club could field former Blade David Carney against his former club.

Carney, 27 signed for United under the reign of Bryan Robson in August 2007 and stayed at Bramall Lane until September 2009 – during which time he made just 22 appearances (+4) and scored three goals, his most memorable at Bolton Wanderers in a FA Cup tie.

We’ve met before...

Sheffield United has met the Seasiders in 69 meetings since the two clubs were formed and have won a percentage of 45% of those matches. Our last meeting with the Pool came on 16 March 2010 as United recorded a 3-0 win over their Champiosnhip rivals.

Blackpool; whom like United prior to the fixture where only a few points behind the top six spots. But despite the teams taking a level playing field in terms of league position it was the home side that ran out 3-0 victors.

Striker Richard Cresswell (1st minute) stabbed home following a Mark Yeates corner - it was the forward's 100th career goal. Midfielder Nick Montgomery (43) was teed up by Henri Camara to finish from the edge of the area to score his first goal since 2006/07 season and Cresswell (66) added a second from close range.
